So remember about a month ago i told you guys about my trip to africa, well things have changed slightly and we are now looking at Nepal. Which is absolutely fantastic! I can honestly say i have never been so interested in something in my life. I am saving every penny i get to pay for this trip that i have been selected for. however, yet again it is going to be a lot of money and every little bit will help. The trip itself is a photojournalism project taking place in Nepal this summer. I have been invited to intern with the photojournalists working there as well as help to complete the project. The trip will involve hands on work, as well as classtime while I am there. I do believe that this will be a close to six week trip for me. It is something that I am very passionate about and more than stoked for. IF you can help me with paying for tutition that would be much appreciated, or if you have fundraising ideas; please let me know. I will attach my email to this blog so that those who are interested can contact me! also here is the link to the project for those of you who want to look into the project further! thanks so much!
with Love, As always,
Keela (:

Enrichment & Volunteering
I Have A Dream...
A couple weeks ago I finished reading what I would consider to be the most influential books I have ever read. "Three Cups of Tea" By Greg Mortenson really inspired me to do something big, something I was passionate about, and something meaningful. So I went searching, and found out there are so many different summer programs and volunteer opportunities that i can get involved in, both here in the US as well as going abroad. GOing abroad is something that everyone always says they want to do, but few really get the chance, and I want to be one of the few.
I"ve decided I am going to start fundraising now for this trip to South Africa with a group called Cross Cultural Solutions, the trip will be two weeks long and cost about 4-5 thousand dollars, which, yes is a lot of money, but you cannot put a price on helping others. (Cliche?) SO if you're reading this, please comment and help me brainstorm good fundraising ideas! Every little bit helps. And if you are interested in attending a leadership camp similar this summer, I posted the link to CCS underneath this post. Let's CHange the World BlogSpot!

First Blog!
My First Blog will go as follows, I'll explain a little more about myself, my family, my friends and all the other great things that keep me going, like my camera, or lady gaga's "the fame monster" (which is always blasting in my car stereo) Also I'll tell you all about why It's taken me so long to enter the blogging world, and how excited I am to be here. This blog is intended to be about what my life is like on a day to day basis; my ups and downs, the pictures I take, the paintings i paint, and of course the great recipes for food to make. (Cute Rhyme there, right?) But Whatever it is that Im posting from day to day, I hope everyone always enjoys(:
So, First my family, My dad is the biggest and most influential person in my life, as a teenage girl a father daughter relationship as close as mine and my father's is fairly rare, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. He keeps me going when school gets too stressful, or when you just know your gonna die from embarrassment. My dad is my hero, and I'll always be his little girl. And Now my Mom, she is really indescribable, a definite character, but one that I love, and is there for me when I need her. Mom and I have a good time, we go out for lunch, thrift shopping, and downtown photos, we laugh and act like children, singing loud with the wrong lyrics to the top 40 in the car. I love you too Mommy. So sure, my family life is pretty average, divorced parents, nothing crazy happening at home or anything. But I wouldn't change what I have for anything else.
Recently I got a little present from my Mom... you know when your little and you're so excited to open presents on Christmas morning, and theres that one thing you've just been begging for? Put yourself in that situation, but now, it's not even a holiday yet, and you get on a plane for boston in the morning? You walk down stairs and sitting underneath the tree, there it is... your brand new Nikon, already on the tripod and waiting for you. My Camera is my newest prized possession, I take it with my everywhere I go, and almost never put it down. Without a doubt, Pictures will be in the posts to come! Along with my Camera I am very excited to have a new easel waiting for me in my room, props to my Brother; Wesley, on that one. These are just a few of the things that I love to help you get a better idea of who I am, and what makes me smile.
Lastly for this little Intro, why I'm here. I have always loved to write, share, and discuss, I always thought I wouldn't have time to post on a blog and keep up with it everyday, or even weekly. And considering the fact that I want to go into a career in journalism, it's really important for me to write, and discuss, and stay informed on the world,of course blogging is a great way to do so. Then my Brother and I were discussing things I can do to start diving into my writing more, he told me to start posting on a blog and just see where it went. I guess it was just one of those days that I was especially motivated, because I went with it, and created a blogger account almost immediately. (I had to get chocolate milk first). I'm really excited to start posting and sharing with everyone, as well as following some of you guys' posts and getting more involved in the world wide web!
